Summer, 2022. Reddit asked me if I was interested in being involved in this new thing they were doing where they would sell avatars designed by artists. They were guaranteeing about $3k. I said yes, and didn’t really expect to get more than that.

I thought it would be fun to have the most conceptually nifty piece also be the cheapest. It ended up selling out much faster than the other two, and I got a lot of people asking me if there would be more stuff like this in the future. So I suppose that was a good choice on my part.

Originally the edition size of this demon lady was going to be 420 but someone at Reddit decided they didn’t want the drug reference. But then the collector community discovered they could “overmint” by taking advantage of some glitches in how the apps counted the number of items sold, and ended up making 434 copies exist in their effort to have someone acquire #420.
SWEET PROVIDENCE
$100, edition of 135.
“Surely nobody would ever spend a hundred bucks for a set of avatar parts”, I said. “Maybe they’ll be more likely to do this if it is something completely absurd.” And ‘a bunch of hovering pastries’ felt pretty absurd.

This one got scrapped because the head was too far away from the points it has to match on the standard template, and I didn’t feel like I could make a head that was even half as delightfully goofy that hit those marks. Maybe I’ll try again somewhere down the line.
