Nine Ladies Dancing

$10, edition of 500.

The folks on the avatar artist discord had the idea to do a group drop of the Twelve Days Of Christmas. By the time I noticed it there were only about four choices left, all at the end of the song. I decided “Nine Ladies Dancing” felt like the most fun. Unsurprisingly it drifted into magical symbolism.

Initial rough sketch directly in Illustrator. I had the idea of “small ladies dancing in a ring around a larger lady” as a way to get all nine dancing ladies in.

The ring of tiny dancing ladies is mostly done, with a painterly effect I would ultimately decide to get rid of.
